About Us

Therese Tuccaro Secondary School (TTSS) is operated by the Mikisew Cree First Nation Education Authority [A.0352]

TTSS was established n February of 2020, through the collaboration of Mikisew Cree First Nation, Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation and Fort Chipewyan Metis Association.

With 140+ graduates since establishment, TTSS continually adjusts learning approaches to accommodate all students Grades 8-12, including adults. The non-conventional design of the Secondary School allows students to embrace their history and culture while working towards the ultimate goals of a High School Diploma, personal wellness, strong identity and connection to home, and confidence to take steps into the future.

As part of the interactive learning process, TTSS integrates seasonal land-based activities and high community involvement. Combining the Alberta Program of Studies curriculum with traditional, Indigenous learnings and innovative educational practices, Therese Tuccaro Secondary School aims to promote culture, land-based learning, and languages such as Cree and Dene.
